WHO WE ARE
In 1986, Dave Stephenson Sr walked into a local appliance store in Milwaukee and convinced them to give him his first delivery contract. He then walked across the street to a rental company, rented his first box truck and learned to drive it in the parking lot. Two days later he ran his first delivery route and IFS was on the move! A few years later Dave’s teenage son, Dave Jr, began working with routing and loadout manifests after school, and over time his role in the family business grew along with IFS. Over the years IFS added more accounts outside of Milwaukee and became a services provider, not just an owner operator. IFS has provided final mile services across the country as both a Home Delivery Partner and a provider of Complex Appliance Installation services through our independent contractor partners. Our network and reach may have changed, but our values remain – Take care of our people, our customers and our partners and the rest is easy.
At IFS, we are delivering more than freight, we deliver experiences. That is not just our tagline, that is our north star, the force that drives us forward with every delivery our teams complete. Our leadership team has a diverse background in final mile, warehousing, retail, and transportation. Our retail experience gives us a unique POV, as we have walked the same roads and experienced many of the same challenges our clients face. We work to take a proactive approach to support and service so that our clients can focus on what they do best. Many of our leaders not only have experience on the retail side of final mile but are also established leaders in retail. We have been GMs, DMs, Service and Delivery Directors, Regional and Territory Leaders, and every job in stores. We know retail, we lived and loved retail, so our passion for our clients’ business is built deep into our DNA.
